Eventide: The Reclamation Of Fallon
(Daughters of the Sea #4.5)
by Kristen Day

The age-old balance of light and dark will always find a way to be restored. At times it comes in the form of non-discriminate karma or the heavy hand of divine will. At other times that balance comes in the form of a single, teenage girl.

My name is Fallon. I am different. I am special. My essence moves in a cadence unknown to the other Auras at the House of Eventide. It was born of the intricate dance of the moon's opposing forces; retract and advance, embrace and release. The brazen energy of the sun preys at the edges of my being; fraying its delicate balance and scorching my heart into submission. Only under the calming cover of night, can my essence shine freely.

My true identity must be kept secret at all costs. My very existence is a threat to the Aura Order I pretend to be a part of. Should my web of lies unravel, they would stop at nothing to destroy me. I am the sole descendant of the light moon goddess, Luna . I have been Chosen. This is my story.

I am a southern belle at heart with a crazy streak that desperately tries to escape at every opportunity. I love all things nostalgic, rustic, and quirky. I’ve been told I see the world through rose-colored glasses, but I prefer to think of them as kaleidoscope glasses – swirling and morphing reality into something I can digest (who hasn’t pretended those pasty lima beans were really kiwi strawberry jelly beans?).
When I’m not writing I’m making jewelry, painting, drinking sweet tea, watching the discovery channel, or going on random adventures in the mountains of North Carolina with my amazing husband.

Game On

Publication Date: October 17, 2014

Pitching phenom Bruce "Jilly" Gillette has a hard time talking to women. His hulking presence of tattoos and muscles is what makes him an intimidating closer on the mound, yet off the field, he's painfully shy, uncomfortable in his own skin.

Desperate to revamp his loner image, the New York Kings hold a dream date contest, granting the lucky winner a night on the town with their surly reliever, doing whatever it takes to force Jilly out of his comfort zone.

Hailey Halpert enters the contest on a whim, looking for answers as to why her high school relationship with Jilly hit the skids. Now she's a popular romance author writing under a pen name, and her reappearance in Jilly's life is no accident. It turns out that her novels are all about the sexy players on the Kings, and Jilly has no clue that he's about to become her new leading man.

A clap of thunder echoes above us and the heavens open up, pummeling us with rain, but he doesn't stop. He keeps kissing me hard and fast. We quickly become drenched as he brushes my sopping-wet hair away from my neck. I feel droplets of rain fall off his face onto mine, but it only seems to intensify the way he’s kissing me. His tongue opens my mouth, and he eagerly explores every inch of it. I never imagined that he'd be so good at this. I whimper again, and he wraps his good hand around my waist, lifting me up against the building, pressing himself against me.

I don't even know what I'm doing as I open my legs to him. He lowers his hand, finding the back of my knee and hooking one leg around him, and I follow suit with the other, our wet clothes weighing heavily on our overheated skin. This time, his hands aren't staying in those designated 'safe' areas like they did that night on the couch, and it's almost too much to handle.

The only thought in my head is that I need to get him alone and continue this somewhere where I can have him all to myself.

I throw my head back, freeing my lips from his, needing to breathe.

He chuckles softly. "Was that what you wanted?"

"Uh huh," I somehow manage to respond. "Even better than chocolate."

He smiles, shifting my body in his arms until he's cradling me against his chest. “What do you say we get outta here?” he asks, reading my mind.

I nod, and he smiles again, teasing my lips with his while walking slowly toward the street. He raises his hand to hail a cab, and I slide my arms around his neck, pulling him closer. He starts kissing me deeply as the rain hits us full on. I can feel his heartbeat pounding through his wet T-shirt that’s now clinging to his hard, muscular body, and I sigh, knowing this has to be, hands down, the sexiest moment of my life.

This book tells the story of Bruce “Jilly” Gillette and Hailey Halpert. They were best friends during high school. They were in love with each other, without the other knowing. After graduation, they grew apart and never saw each other again.

Years have gone by and Jilly is now a baseball player for the New York Kings and Hailey is a writer.

Because he is a bit on the rough side and not very communicative, the New York Kings create a contest to win a date with Jilly and Hailey wins it.

They are happy to reconnect, but Hailey is hiding something that may tear them apart again.

This is a great story and very well written. We follow the ups and downs of Jilly and Hailey’s relationship and we ride that rollercoaster with them. This book made me laugh and smile, but also made me want to throw my kindle against the wall because of the misunderstandings between Jilly and Hailey and because of their lack of communication.
This story has lots of sweet moments (loved the epilogue and the bonus chapters) and there were also a few spicy scenes.

Jilly had a rough childhood because of his father and he was always made fun of because of his size. That made him a reserved guy and not very communicative. When he met Hailey, he fell in love with her but never told her. When she started dating another guy, he decided to leave after high school graduation to become a baseball player.
He is a very sweet guy that is afraid to fall in love again because of what happened with Hailey.

Growing up, Hailey used to hang out with the popular crowd, but when her family started to have financial problems, her “friends” started making fun of her and she became an outcast. Then she met Bruce and they became best friends, he became her rock. She fell in love with him and it seemed that their relationship was going to evolve to something more at a school party, but that didn’t happen. She didn’t want Bruce to stay in their hometown because of her, so Hailey started dating another guy. She went to college to become a writer and now she is in New York to help her dream come true. Hailey enters the contest because she sees how sad Bruce is in the photos the publicity team took of him. She hides a secret from everyone.

I loved seeing these characters together. They were very sweet with each other and it showed that they were in love. The spicy scenes were perfect for them.

This is an amazing book, with a great story and great characters. The characters of Night Games and Game Changer are present in this book and if you haven’t read the books (like me) it will not affect the reading of this book; their presence will make you want to read the books.
This is the first book I read written by Collette West and it did not disappoint. She gained a new fan and I can’t wait to read her books!

Collette West grew up as somewhat of a jock-nerd hybrid. Entering the world three weeks premature, her dad nearly missed her birth because he had seats behind the dugout for a sold-out, highly-anticipated match-up between two of baseball's biggest rivals. Not to be outdone, her book-loving mom taught her how to read by the time she was three. A love of the game coupled with an appreciation for the written word were instilled in Collette's impressionable brain from a young age. No wonder her characters believe in the philosophy: sports + romance = a little slice of heaven.

Splitting her time between the Pocono Mountains and Manhattan, Collette indulges her inner fangirl by going to as many games as she can from hockey to baseball and downloading every sports romance novel in existence onto her iPad. When she's not clicking away on her laptop, she enjoys walking her dog in Central Park, satisfying her caffeine craving at the Starbucks on Broadway and keeping an eye out for Mr. Right. But above all, she loves dishing with her readers. Email her at collette_west@yahoo.com.

She is the author of NIGHT GAMES and GAME CHANGER.

Rosalie double majored in Anthropology and Classics as an undergraduate student, and briefly considered becoming an archaeologist before realizing they don't actually live the life of Indiana Jones. So what was a classical geek armed with a lot of useless knowledge to do? Become a lawyer, of course!

After attending law school in Florida, she practiced real estate law for several years before finally admitting to herself that negotiating contracts wasn't nearly as fun as dreaming up stories. When not writing, you can find her on a boat somewhere along South Florida's waterways, chasing down a rainbow or pretending to be a pirate.
