Wicked Fall
The Wicked Horse #1
Sawyer Bennett

✾ Synopsis ✾

Never in your wildest dreams could you begin to imagine all the filthy and depraved things that go on inside The Wicked Horse. Step inside and Woolf Jennings will make every one of your dirty fantasies come true.

He's covered in a facade of deception. An enticing blend of multi-millionaire and hot-as-hell Wyoming rancher, those that think they know Woolf Jennings admire his abilities to preside as CEO of his family's cattle and oil empire. But only a privileged few truly understand what fuels the glitter of depravity in those gorgeous blue eyes. Only a few know he's opened up a sinfully erotic and private sex club named The Wicked Horse right at the base of the beautiful Teton Mountain range.

Sweet Callie Hayes has returned home to Wyoming and is looking forward to starting her life over again. After a night of impetuosity, she's managed to put herself right in Woolf's line of sight... the man who she foolishly offered up her virginity to years ago and was flatly turned down.

Now Woolf is seeing that Callie is all grown up and has a kinky side to her that leaves him as confused as it does turned on. Worse yet, both Callie's dirty desires and sweet heart are getting under his skin, and making Woolf question everything he's ever believed about himself.

✿ My Review ✿

Woolf Jennings runs his family business, JennCo and the Double J ranch, but it isn't his true passion. His real passion is his club The Wicked Horse. But The Wicked Horse isn't just a club. It is a sex club that he owns with his best friend, Bridger Payne.
Callie Hayes is the sweet and innocent little sister of Woolf's best friend who died years ago. She just break up with her fiancé after finding him in a compromising position. She comes back home and finds her old crush and the man that broke her heart, Woolf Jennings.
Trying to find herself again, Callie starts working at JennCo as Woolf's assistant and end ups discovering the truth behind The Wicked Horse. She is very curious about it and wants to visit the sex club. But Woolf thinks it is too much for her and that she doesn't belong to that life style.
Will Woolf be right or will Callie prove him wrong?

I loved Wicked Fall! It has an amazing story that hooked me from the first page. It is a very hot and funny read that will keep you wanting more. I loved the chemistry between Woolf and Callie and that the story was told from both their POVs.

Woolf Jennings is the CEO of his family business, but although he loves the ranch, he also loves sex. So opening The Wicked Horse with his best friend was the best move for him. He always had a thing for Callie but he believes she wants more that he can offer and that she will not fit his life style. He is very possissive and protective but also very sweet. And hot!!!
Callie Hayes is a sweet and innocent woman. She always had a crush for Woolf but he rejected her and broke her heart. Now, she is trying to find herself and belives that The Wicked Horse is the perfect place to do it. She is very stubborn and knows what she wants, but she is afraid that Woolf will think she isn't enough for him.

Sawyer Bennett wrote an awesome book with an amazing story and great characters, that will keep you hooked from the first page. Her writing is flawless and her story-telling ability is fantastic. Can't wait to read the rest of this series!

The Pledge, in Five Words

Trustworthy - The underlying theme to The Pledge is trust. Taren and Alec each make promises that cause them to lead different lifestyles, and their trust in one another is constantly tested. They must take advantage of second chances and discover that they can depend on one another.

Profound - William, an important secondary character who has special needs, challenges Taren to step back and look at her life in a more simplistic way. She realizes that maybe things aren't as complicated as she thinks. William helps her realize that love is really all that matters.

Provocative - Taren is dedicated to a life of partying and Alec is determined to achieve the adrenaline high he gets from risky activities. The Pledge is a story of opposites attract and is filled with alcohol-fueled parties, dangerously seductive gymnastics, and unexpected trysts in unusual places.

Optimistic - The Pledge explores the idea of new beginnings and recreating oneself. Taren and Alec both learn to leave behind their fears and go for the futures they want.

Authentic - Alec and Taren are "real". They face insecurities and peer pressure, but their responses are genuine and heartfelt. Taren feels an intense need to belong, to be a part of something. Alec is desperate for freedom. While their choices aren’t always what would make their lives easier, their decisions are true to what they think they need to be happy.

Laura's and Christine's Favorite Quotes
from The Pledge

"Taren's hands worshipped my body. Her lips followed the path of her fingers to brand every part she touched. The heat spreading through me was a slow burn; the kind that snuck up on you. The kind where you didn't know you were in trouble until it was too late and you were lost in a blazing inferno."

We love this quote because the road to Taren and Alec's physical relationship was a long one. Once the two finally found themselves able to be together, their chemistry was hot!

"We've both made pledges that are important to us and the things we believe in, but this time, my pledge is for you."

This quote is the essence of our book. Two very different characters pledge themselves to different worlds, but through growth, are able to realize their most important pledge is to one another.

"He pulled me close, and as he kissed me in the moonlight, my soul felt like it was lodged in my throat. My heart beat erratically because with every part of me, I was sure. I know it. I love him. I love Alec Hart."

We loved this quote because early on in the book Taren insists that she hates Alec Hart because of how he humiliated her in high school. But, as we all know, there's a thin line between love and hate. As Taren and Alec get to know and trust one another, she discovers that not only does she like Alec, she loves him with all of her heart.

"I want you to know that you will always be my yes. I promise that no matter how life might try to tear us apart, no matter how tangled things get, I will always come back to you."

The concept of the red string of fate is one of our favorite surprises for readers of The Pledge. This quote hints to the theme that no matter how different Alec and Taren are, they're bound by fate. When things go wrong, their connection is strong enough to withstand the problems and they come out stronger.

"Second chances don't change the past. They just prove we can learn from our mistakes. I'm not the same guy I was in high school. I'm going to prove that to you."

Another theme of this book is starting fresh and getting a second chance to do things right. This quote is a perfect one to highlight that theme.

"With her body pressed up against mine, we danced in the flickering light of hundreds of candles on a night of second chances."

We like this quote because this is the perfect way for Taren and Alec to get a second chance at the night that created so much pain for both of them.

"A tear rolled down my face as emotion overwhelmed me. I wasn't just another body. He saw me. The real me."

Isn't this what each of us wants more than anything else? To be seen for who we really are? Taren was bullied and ignored for most of her young life, so when she realizes Alec sees all of her, she can't contain her emotion.

While in Breckenridge for my best friend's wedding, I was introduced to Dakota Shavell, a friend of the bride-to-be, and from the moment our blue gazes met, sparks flew.

It was supposed to just be fun, a good time. I planned to walk away unchanged.

✿ Excerpt ✿

Karmen stands next to the kitchen table looking at something. In just a towel, I walk past her towards the coffee pot. As I pour my steaming cup of Holy goodness, she says, "Well... I'm just going to come out and say it, okay?"

I turn around, one hand clutches the end of my towel to hold it in place. My eyes find hers over the rim of my coffee cup. I nod as I blow on the steaming liquid. I watch as she focuses in on my lips, so I purposely blow a little harder.

She drops her eyes and looks down at her fingers, concentrating on picking at the red nail polish on her nails. "I want us to be friends not just at work but out of work too," she blurts out.

At this I laugh.

Her head snaps up and she glares daggers at me from across the few feet separating us. "Is it so funny to think of us being friends?" The sharp tone of her voice tells me she really thinks that I wouldn't want to be friends with her. I do. But I want more, much more.

"No, Karmen."

"Then why laugh at me?"

"Well, I kind of already thought we were friends." I shrug. "And after that kiss, maybe even a little more."

I watch as her body sags in relief, and hope begins to build that maybe she might want more, too. "Brayden, I already told you we cannot go there."

"Well seeing as we already did 'go there', I don't see what the problem is. You kissed me, Karmen. I know you felt what I felt in that kiss." I place my mug on the counter, my coffee is forgotten as I take a step in her direction. My tone drops to one of seduction. Like yesterday, I pull her back under my spell. "You can't tell me you didn't feel the fire." Another step. "The heat." I drop my voice another octave as I close the distance between us. My face closes in on hers. Instead of claiming her lips like I want, I skim the tip of my nose along her jaw, up her neck in agonizingly slow strokes, before growling in her ear, "The hunger." I look down, her chest rises and falls in rapid breaths that fan out against my own neck. Blood rages through my veins like an addict getting the first hit of the rush they so much crave. My hand lands on her back. I pull her flush against my body, the towel separates my skin from touching hers. The contact forces an erotic groan past those luscious lips I'm dying to kiss again. "Things could be so good between us. Even now, I can feel the tremble of your body against mine." I nip at her earlobe and murmur, "The way your heavy breaths hit my neck, I can feel how hard your nipples are. They're begging to be sucked, right? Do you want me to touch you? Put you out of your misery?" I groan, and she nods her head like the wanton woman she is. Slowly, I glide my hand up along her side, and with the briefest of touches I let my thumb graze across her tight nipple. She whimpers and I add, "You want me and I want you." Absentmindedly, she nods her head vigorously, and at that moment I know I've got her. I pull back to see her eyes closed, her lips slightly parted. "But since you only want to be friends then that's what we'll be."

I know as soon as my words sink in. Karmen's eyes pop open and she gasps in shock. I tilt my head to the side and stare back at her.

"You're an ass," she snaps, flustered.

"Maybe. But I proved my point. We'll be friends." I drop my hands from around her waist and step away from her. "I'm giving you what you want. I0m a very giving man." I grin at her and wink. "You should remember that." I grip the towel tighter, to keep from reaching out to her. My feet carry me towards my room to get dressed, but her parting words halt my movements.

"That kiss didn't mean anything," she says nonchalantly.

I look back at her over my shoulder, and my grin turns into a full-blown smile. "You keep telling yourself that, babe. Your body doesn't lie. It didn't lie yesterday when your hands were fisted in my shirt, and it didn't lie a second ago when you were putty in my hands."

I don't give her a chance to refute what I've said. We both know I'm right. I'll play her friends card. But just like a spark eventually becomes a flame, that flame will sooner or later turn into an inferno. I'm betting whatever this is between us will be ablaze in no time.

✿ Excerpt ✿

Later in the evening, after people started to leave, Jake asked Andrea to dance. It was a slow song and he had his arms around her. He leaned in until his lips brushed against her ear. "I'd like to take you home with me."

Andrea smiled. "I’d like to take you up on that but I need to stay, at least until Ben and Jeanie leave. I have to help Mom load the gifts. She's going to take them home and keep them for Ben and Jeanie until they get back."

"That's fine. I can hang around and help."

"That's really sweet of you, but you don't have to. I'm sure you have to be up early tomorrow."

"Actually, I'm off. There's nothing stopping me from staying out all night if I want."

"Well," her face heated. "I also don't want my family thinking I would pick someone up at my brother's wedding and go home with him." She looked down so he wouldn’t see her blush.

"No problem." He smiled against her ear. "I'll hang around and help. When we’re done we can leave separately and meet somewhere else. We can go to my place or we can go out for coffee. I don't know about you, but after all this," he motioned around them, where the flashing lights and loud music vibrated through their bodies. "I'm going to need to decompress for a bit before I'm anywhere near ready to sleep."

She looked up at him a moment, seeing his point. "What part of town do you live in?"

"The northwest side, why?"

"So I don't tell you to meet me someplace in the opposite direction." She fell silent for a few seconds as she thought about places that would be open when they finally got out of there. "In the Ranch district, that's what that side of town's called, I don’t know why. There's a Denny's on the corner of Maple and Waterson. You know where that is?"

He thought for just a second. "It's in the shopping center with Grant's Market isn't it?"

"Yeah, I think so. Let's meet there. We can have some coffee, eat something if we feel like it and unwind a little. Then, we can decide where to go from there."

"That works. I'll look forward to it." He placed a gentle kiss on her ear.

The music ended and they made their way off the dance floor, each going separate ways. Jake went to Ben, Andrea saw them standing together talking while she made her way to her mother.

"How are things going?" She sat down beside Sophia.

"So far so good." Sophia looked around the room, watching for anything that might need her attention.

"Where's Dad."

"He's around here somewhere. I saw him over there talking to Eddie Cruz a little while ago." She motioned to one side of the large room. "Is the car ready for Ben and Jeanie to leave?"

"I'm not sure. I'll check on it." Andrea went out to see if the car was ready. She smiled at the balloons attached to the top and trunk. She thought the groomsmen had decorated it well and let her mother know it was ready.

Less than an hour later they had loaded the newlyweds into the decorated rental car and sent them on their way with shouts of good luck and have fun. People started drifting away faster after the couple of honor were gone. Within an hour there were less than ten people left. Andrea started cleaning up, picking up the abandoned plates and cups scattered around the room and depositing them in a large trash can she dragged with her, until her mother made her stop.

"We'll get this done in the morning, dear," Sophia said "Let's just get the gifts loaded and call it a night."

Andrea looked around and seeing that all the plates of food were gone, she nodded. "Alright, Mom. Do you want to back the car up near the door? I think that will be easier than hauling them all the way out."

"Will you do that for me? I don't trust myself to back it in, not in the dark." Sophia held out the keys to her car.

"No problem." She accepted them and headed outside.

Between Andrea, her parents, Jake, and a couple other friends who had hung around to help, they made quick work of stacking the gifts into the back of Sophia's car.

Closing the trunk, Andrea turned to Sophia. "Do you want me to follow you home and help unload these?"

"No, I'm going to pull the car into the garage and not worry about unloading them until tomorrow. I think your father and I can manage it."

"All right." Andrea started to walk away but turned back. "What time do you want to meet here to finish the clean-up in the morning?"

"Not too early. I plan to sleep late tomorrow."

"So about nine?"

"That sounds good." Sophia agreed.

"I'll be here, too," Jake interrupted.

"You don't have to do that, dear." Sophia told him.

"But I do. I can't leave you two to do all the work. Those tables are heavy and you're not moving them by yourselves. Besides, Ben told me I could adopt his family and I won’t let you do all this work alone. You're just going to be stuck with me." He grinned, letting them know he was as serious as he was teasing.

✿ Guest Post ✿

Where Do My Characters Come From

I'm often asked if I base my characters on people I know. No. Each character's personality is different. I do sometimes steal mannerisms, haircuts, personal preferences, but more often than not it's what the character has told me about themselves and yes, they actually speak to me.

Sometimes I'll be sitting in a restaurant with my family and over hear something at the next table that makes my mind spin. It may give me an idea or it may just sound so much like one of the people living in my head that they end up saying something similar in the future.

I may see someone somewhere who inspires my physically, and actually for Jade's Peace, Steve was inspired by my mental image of what Model Jeremy Aaron's personality might be like. I kept a picture of him on my desktop and when I had doubts about how Steve might behave, how he would react to something I could look at the pic and I just knew. Often, though I don't need a visual aid. With Jade, she spoke to me, and told me things I didn't have planned at all. She started out as an only child. And I was writing along and she says to me, "Watch out, my brother will be here tomorrow." My immediate thought was, "You don't have a brother." She was adamant though and replied, "Yes I do and he'll be here tomorrow." Sure enough, he showed up, and I had to go back and fix a few things but I'll admit, he made the story better.

I find that my best stories, at least to me, at the ones where I start out with a vague idea of the story, I have two characters and a rough ending, (Hey, this is romance, they always end up together, right?) and let the characters tell me their story as I go along. The characters always seem more alive when they lead their own stories.

✿ The Author ✿

Melissa was born and raised in Arizona, she's spent her entire life living across the southern half of the state. She's found that, along with her husband and three children, she prefers the small towns and rural life to feeling packed into a city.

Through the years she's found that there's little she won't read, and her tastes vary from westerns, to romance, to sci-fi / fantasy and Horror.

She's been writing since 2009, and enjoys nearly every minute of it.
