✾ Synopsis ✾

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills and international bestselling author Tia Louise...

The first rule of office romance is don't do it — especially if your dream is to hold the anchor spot on the nightly news and your boss is trying to get you fired.

But one look at Cade Hill, the sexy new sports director, and uptight reporter Rebecca Fieldstone is daydreaming about other things.

Sex in his office...
Sex in the on-set kitchen...
Sex in the supply closet...

She can't stop thinking about the former NFL quarterback and how perfect he'd look between her sheets — except he's an arrogant jerk with a huge... ego.

He's the last guy she'd ever have a one-night stand with.

Cade Hill draws a thick professional line on office romance — until it comes to the hyper-focused Rebecca. He wants her, and he gets his wish when a chance encounter has them having the hottest sex of their lives.

It's just a hook-up, she says.
When can we do it again? he says.

With Rebecca determined to keep Cade in the friend zone, it's going to be an uphill battle for Cade to convince her he's the last guy she'll ever want.

THE LAST GUY is the first white-hot CONTEMPORARY ROMANTIC COMEDY from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise. It features Fireball-fueled hookups, Doritos Locos Tacos, attack monkeys, toddlers in tiaras, and one fabulous drag queen. Prepare for frantic clicking (or page flipping!) and smoking-hot sexytimes all the way to the out-of-this-world happily-ever-after.

✿ My Review ✿

Rebecca Fieldstone is focused getting the anchor spot on the nightly news while her boss is trying to find a way to fire her. So, the last thing she needs is being distracted by Cade Hill, the news sports director. After all, he's a jerk and extremely arrogant. He's the last guy she should have a hookup with. But when a chance encounter gives them the best night of their lives, Cade wants more, while Rebecca says it was just a one night stand. Will Cade break through Rebecca's focus and win her heart? Or will Rebecca keep Cade in the friend zone?

I loved The Last Guy! The story hooked me from the first page and I couldn't stop reading. The chemistry between Cade and Rebecca is off the charts and the banter between them is hilarious. The story has the perfect amount of drama, laughter and sexy scenes, with a little dash of action.

Rebecca Fieldstone always dreamed of becoming an anchor on the nightly news and worked hard to achieve her dream. Unfortunately, she's going through a rough time and she's a mess. But she's a strong woman that knows what she wants and will fight for it. I loved that she's very ambitious and driven, but also very sweet and kind.
Cade Hill is a former NFL player and now he's the news sports director. Although it seems that he landed the job because of who he is, Cade worked and studied hard to be where he is. He is hot and he knows it. His ego is huge and he can be a little bit of a jerk. But he's also very sweet and caring.

Tia Louise and Ilsa Madden-Mills did a phenomenal job! The Last Guy is perfectly written and their writing style makes it very easy to connect with the story and the characters. They give us an amazing story and awesome characters and I can't wait to read more!

✾ Synopsis ✾

New York Times bestselling author Cora Carmack's young adult debut: Roar.

In a land ruled and shaped by violent magical storms, power lies with those who control them.

Aurora Pavan comes from one of the oldest Stormling families in existence. Long ago, the ungifted pledged fealty and service to her family in exchange for safe haven, and a kingdom was carved out from the wildlands and sustained by magic capable of repelling the world's deadliest foes. As the sole heir of Pavan, Aurora's been groomed to be the perfect queen. She's intelligent and brave and honorable. But she's yet to show any trace of the magic she'll need to protect her people.

To keep her secret and save her crown, Aurora's mother arranges for her to marry a dark and brooding Stormling prince from another kingdom. At first, the prince seems like the perfect solution to all her problems. He'll guarantee her spot as the next queen and be the champion her people need to remain safe. But the more secrets Aurora uncovers about him, the more a future with him frightens her. When she dons a disguise and sneaks out of the palace one night to spy on him, she stumbles upon a black market dealing in the very thing she lacks — storm magic. And the people selling it? They're not Stormlings. They're storm hunters.

Legend says that her ancestors first gained their magic by facing a storm and stealing part of its essence. And when a handsome young storm hunter reveals he was born without magic, but possesses it now, Aurora realizes there's a third option for her future besides ruin or marriage.

She might not have magic now, but she can steal it if she's brave enough.

Challenge a tempest. Survive it. And you become its master.

✿ Excerpt ✿

"This life is not glamorous," Duke told her. "We travel constantly. We sleep on the ground most nights. When we're not in danger from storms, we're in danger in cities where we are considered criminals. This life is not for the faint of heart."

"There are things I do not know, things I will have to learn. But I am capable. I am familiar with sacrifice. I know what it is to make hard choices."

"Tell me you're not considering this," Locke said to Duke.

The old man was silent for a long moment, both Locke and Roar looking to him for support. Duke rubbed at his mustache, a habit of his when he was thinking deeply. "Let's think about this, Locke. She's smart. And determined."

"She's a child."

Roar's shoulders hunched in Locke's peripheral vision, and he swallowed back the guilt. He could apologize later. For now, it was imperative that he won this argument.

"You were a child when I brought you into the fold," Duke said. "She's a young woman with a good head on her shoulders. And if this is what she wants, I'm inclined to at least hear her out."

Just like that, Roar's shoulders straightened, and Locke turned to watch a devastating smile bloom across her mouth. His weakness when it came to her only made him more cross.

"What skills do you have?" he snapped at Roar.

"Skills?"

"Yes, skills. What can you do? Or do you just plan to tag along for the ride?"

A flush spread over her cheeks, and her voice was tentative when she answered, "I'm good on a horse. Very good."

Where in the world would she have learned to ride? He quickly hardened his expression. "Horses are fine for travel, but they don't do well in storms. They, unlike you, have good survival instincts."

As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Locke could have sworn he felt an updraft — the first sign that bad weather could occur — and he knew that this time he had pushed too far.

Roar marched toward him, spearing a finger into his chest and said, "I can read and write. I can speak Taraanese, Finlaghi, and Odilarian. I can read maps. I know enough about grassland vegetation and wildlife to survive without a market to buy food and drink. I'm good with knives and a bow. I learn quickly, and I'm not afraid of hard work. And I've spent my entire life reading as much about storms as I could get my hands on." For a moment, her voice cracked under the weight of her anger, but she took a huffing breath and continued: "I'm good with numbers. It's been a while, but I think I can probably still draw the constellations from memory, which should make me decent at navigation. I can—"

"Enough." Locke's voice came out in a deep rasp. He captured her long, delicate finger in his fist before she could continue poking him. He felt short of breath at the sight of her — livid and lovely. "Enough."

The old Locke might have kept arguing, and Roar would have met him toe-to-toe. But if becoming a storm hunter had taught him anything, it was that fighting head-on wasn't always the way to win. Sometimes strategy was required. He met Duke's eyes over her shoulder, and if he had thought Roar looked smug before, she had nothing on his mentor. The man raised his eyebrows in a challenge and asked, "You?"

He hated the idea of bringing someone into this dangerous life, but if it was going to happen regardless, he sure as hell wouldn't hand her safety over to anyone else, not even Ransom. And at the very least, it would give him the opportunity to change her mind. He gritted his teeth and nodded his acceptance.

He carries a big stick. And he's not afraid to use it.

On the ice, I'm Kellan Carter, powerhouse enforcer for the Charlotte Strikers. Off the ice, I'm just a regular guy. The last thing I want is to get mobbed by a bunch of groupies who are only after me for my fame and money. My ideal woman knows how to enjoy a little good, clean fun — and maybe some not-so-clean fun too. That's the kind of girl I'd never let go.

When Kristen Robinson, the gorgeous, down-to-earth bartender I've been crushing on, agrees to let me take her out, I'm thrilled. We have an amazing night together, culminating in the most electrifying kiss of my life — and that's it. Kristen tells me we can't see each other again, but I know that kiss meant as much to her as it did to me. What I don't know is that Kristen has a dangerous secret...

** Hard Stick is an action-packed romantic suspense. Just to warn you, the story line does NOT center around hockey. The main character plays but a lot of the book is set outside of the rink. **

"So what happened to Maddox? I couldn't help but notice his face."

Dallas and Braeden glanced at each other and chuckled. "Kellan fucked him up in practice," Dallas replied.

I gasped. "Why?"

He finished off his beer, and I could tell he was feeling it by the lazy smile. "It's what he does. Maddox was being a dick and Kellan put a stop to it. It's why he's our captain."

"Wow, that's craziness."

I ran his card and held it out to him, but he grabbed on to my hand. "You haven't agreed to go out with him, have you?"

"Who? Kellan?" I asked. The girls gawked at me and snorted.

He nodded. "Yeah."

"No, why?"

"Just asking," he said with a shrug. He put his arm around the blonde and they started for the door. "It'd be nice to get the five hundred dollars." They stopped and he smiled at me over his shoulder.

"What are you talking about?" I demanded.

Braeden sighed and smacked Dallas on the back of the head. "Stop fucking with the girl." Then he turned to me. "It was just a stupid bet."

"Stupid?" Dallas laughed. "You put three hundred on it, so I don't want hear that shit." In a drunken haze, he smiled over at me. "Just do us a favor and don't go out with him until after the weekend. We made a bet that he couldn't get you by the end of the week."

Braeden hit him again. "What the fuck? Shut the hell up." He pushed Dallas out the door and they all followed him. So Kellan agreed to the bet? That was mighty bold of him.

I could hear steps on the hardwood floor behind me. "You all right?" Chris asked.

Turning on my heel, I smiled. "Yep." If Kellan was trying to win the bet, he wasn«t trying very hard. But then again, maybe five hundred dollars was nothing compared to the money he earned. I used to make a good living, but at least I was able to retrieve the money I had in the bank before my supposed death. Having that money helped, especially since I didn’t make nearly as much working at the pub. Hopefully soon I'd be back to doing what I loved.

"Why don't you go home? I can finish up here," Chris offered.

"You sure? I don't mind staying."

He shook his head. "Go. You do enough here as it is."

I hurried behind the bar and grabbed my purse. "Thanks, Chris. After all the training Aylee puts me through, I'm exhausted by nine o'clock."

"I can imagine." He laughed. "I know not to mess with you now."

Aylee taught me many self-defense techniques and how to fight. Before, I had no clue what to do if someone attacked me. After everything that happened with Mitchell and Cole, I had to make sure I was ready for anything. At least now, I wouldn't have to worry about it anymore.

I waved goodbye to Chris and then walked out the door. The night was cool and I breathed in the clean air; the smell of rain was near. We needed it after the long, dry summer we had. Looking over at my car, I didn't realize there was a truck parked next to me with someone leaning against it. It wasn't just anysomeone, either.

"Where were you tonight?" I asked, looking straight at Kellan's smiling face. He had on a pair of jeans that hung low on his hips with a snug green T-shirt that showed off his perfectly sculpted arms. Why did he have to be so sexy? Not to mention, he had perfectly straight, white teeth, which I thought would be a rarity among hockey players.

"So you missed me, huh?"

His smile was infectious and I caught myself smiling back. "I wouldn't say missed, but I was curious where you were. I saw what you did to Maddox."

He shrugged. "It had to be done. Maddox has a large fucking head and needed to be brought down."

I held up my hands. "You don't have to explain. I, of all, people know what kind of head he has." It was the size of the entire country.

Chuckling, he stepped forward, his gaze roaming over my body. "You seem different tonight. It's not very often you smile."

I hadn't had a reason to, but I couldn't tell him that. "Maybe it's because I know something you don't."

"Oh yeah? What's that?"

"Uh, I don't know, perhaps something about a bet?"
